ABOUT US
Brighter Chances Housing and Support is a provider of accommodation for young people aged 16-18, providing sound Key Working support on their journey to successful independence.
OUR AIM
Brighter Chances aims to equip each young person with the tools to enable them to transcend the difficulties of the past and have the confidence to look forward to a brighter future. This will enable them to develop into productive members of society.
SUPPORT
Young people placed with Brighter Chances are provided with a safe, and nurturing environment where they can be supported to develop and build on life skills to achieve their potentials. We understand that each young person is a unique individual, as such support is tailored to their needs. We use a collaborate approach to achieve this by working in partnership with the young person, their social worker and other professionals involved in the young person’s care.
Key to our approach for supporting young people is the Government’s Care Leavers strategy, that focuses on building skills and confidence in the different areas professionals look at when assessing a young person’s ability to live independently. This includes emotional wellbeing, skills, training and work, health, finances, relationships, and their living environment.
Young people referred to our service can be supported in areas such as substance misuse, lower-mental health, those who are at risk of contextual safeguarding, risk of offending behaviour, domestic abuse, sexual /criminal exploitation.
Young people often need additional support before being ready to live independently. We can offer a range of flexible support packages to meet a young person’s changing support needs. This includes support for Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children [UASC].
We work closely with the young person’s social worker or personal advisor to ensure that we support Local Authorities with their corporate parenting responsibility. We use a person centred /trauma informed approach to support and encourage young people to co-produce support plans.
If a young person has a need or risk that we as a provided cannot meet or manage, we will outsource and signpost to external agencies. Our co-production approach recognises that health services, local authorities, family, friends, youth services, police, and schools, but most importantly young people themselves, are vital in contributing towards the safeguarding and managing risk.
